An apple laptop computer has to be one of the best machines to use. Arguably far more superior to windows and any other hardware currently in the market. Everything about an Apple laptop computer looks and feels so good you almost don’t believe it.

But before I start confessing my love for the Mac, let me first admit something. Yes, I am a devoted Apple fan and take a lot of pride in it. However, living in Kenya can have you second guessing on how or if to buy an apple laptop computer.

Most people buy when abroad or they send someone who is travelling out of the country. Others opt to buy from international online stores such as Amazon and Aliexpress.

This is understandable since there are many faulty machines in the market. It could be difficult to differentiate the real from the fake.

Not to say Kenyan products are of inferior quality, but you can never be too sure when you are buying an apple laptop computer in Kenya.

Why I love Mac

I love Mac because it helps me perform all my computing tasks efficiently. The machines are solidly built with a stable, easy to use operating system (macOS). An apple laptop computer is super fast while opening apps, and they rarely crash. You usually don’t need to upgrade the RAM, Hard Drive, or processor like you do with a PC.

The gesture responses are smooth and realistic. So when you’re scrolling up and down a web page or swiping from one full-screen app to another, it’s almost like you’re touching what you’re seeing.

Sure, Macbook are visually appealing. But they were also designed to be powerful, capable, durable, and enjoyable to use.

I really admire the ease of use because:

  • It has high resolution display-a very bright screen ;
  • It is super lightweight. Enough  to carry around without much concern;
  • It has a tactile keyboard (no mushiness); and

The best thing  in mac compared to windows is that it doesn’t hang.Macbook is faster than windows in every respect. Be it the graphics performance, processing of data, or compiling anything else.

The software and the hardware are both manufactured by the same people. Everyone knows how advantageous that is. Almost zero incompatibility issues with the hardware, even when you choose to upgrade your Operating System.

You cannot ignore the killer design the tech giant has opted for. Potential buyers with keen interest in purchasing a sharp display should look no further.Each component inside an apple laptop computer has been meticulously designed to get the most out of an incredibly small enclosure. It is wafer-thin, has a light body with a sleek classy finish.

Macbooks have an average of 12 hours of battery life. That gives you all-day power for surfing the web, watching movies, online and offline video streaming. If you put a MacBook Air to sleep for more than 3 hours, it enters standby mode to conserve battery life for up to 30 days!

You can buy an apple laptop computer in Kenya from Personal Systems or Elite Digital. They are the top authorized Apple re-sellers in the country. They give branded warranties and in the instance your laptop has any issues, you can always take it back to be fixed.

There are a few other retailers such as Mac and More Solutions. They are an Apple Authorised re-seller too. They have branches in Nairobi, Kitale & Kisumu. In Nairobi, they are located at Bandari Plaza, Woodvale Grove, Westlands. They are open from Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm and can deliver Apple products in all parts of Kenya.

Buying an apple laptop computer in Kenya can be done online as well.You can buy from a Facebook group called Nairobi Expats Marketplace. Many expatriates sell them cheap right before they move. Risky, but if you get a genuine seller, you can save thousands of shilling for an A1 secondhand machine.

I would avoid buying an apple laptop computer from OLX. Too many fraudsters looking to swindle people of their hard earned money. Not long ago, there was an ad for a new Macbook air for 70k. A new Macbook air costs around 130k. Even if you factor in depreciation since it was released, it still wouldn’t cost 70k.

Greed is a scammmer’s best accomplice. So when the deal is too good, best to leave it alone.

Other online retailers are Jumia and Killimall. Killimall doesn’t have any Macbooks at the moment so bellow are some machines Jumia Kenya has for sale with their respective prices.

Apple Laptop Computers are not for everyone

Apple is not for everyone. And I’m not just saying that because of the price factor.

I have legitimate concerns when it comes to repairing one that’s broken.

It is difficult to find a trained technician here and they are very expensive once you do. They give inflated quotes enough to buy you a new decent PC.

Furthermore, you would have to wait for at least 2 months to have the parts ordered and shipped. And we haven’t factored how much time it would take to have the machine fixed.

Still, many people will consider only an apple laptop computer, and with good reason. I do agree. PCs are on an average much cheaper than Apple computers. However,Apple fans would rather burn a hole in their wallets. They want the best product and will pay whatever it takes for it.

I think if you have money to own an Apple product,  go for it. No questions asked. The package you’ll get is worth every shilling.
