The powers of the National Land Commission are stated under Section 6 of the National Land Commission Act.

These powers include:

  1. To gather any appropriate and relevant information including the demand of reports, records, documents and information from any state organ.
  2. To compel the production of information and documents stated above where it considers necessary.
  3. To hold inquiries for the purpose of performing its functions under the National Land Commission Act.
  4. To take any measures it considers necessary to ensure compliance with the principles of land policy set out in Article 60(1) of the Constitution.
